Confusion in Zanar, part 2 of The Shadow of the Green Mountain, tells how the four children grow up in Zanar and how they all struggle to find their destinations. Plans come to nothing and the unexpected takes over. They all suffer loneliness and despair and learn the bittersweet complications of love. 

All the while a shadow from the East is growing and war is imminent. In the southern land of Ronga some of them meet each other and others disappear unseen. 

A new meeting of the western countries remains indecisive. Zanar stands alone. The new seer of Zanar senses a second, deeper darkness from the far West. Hope dies.
